Odira Scholarship Assistance

In the academic year 2010/2011, PT. Odira Energy Persada (Odira) gives scholarships to 170 outstanding students from under privileged families in the village of Kedung Jaya. This program is one form of community development programs in Corporate Social Rsponsibility (CSR) activity, particularly to people in the village of Kedung Jaya, Babelan subdistrict, District of Bekasi.

The scholarships are expected to assist in expediting the process of student learning in school, especially to support students from disadvantaged families in following the intracurricular, extracurricular activities at school and for students learning equipment. With the availability of adequate educational infrastructure is also expected to spur students in enhancing their learning intentions so as to provide more optimal learning results.

In the area of Kedung Jaya village which is the Odira's LPG Plant on it, there are 8 public and private schools from elementary school level through junior high school level which is consist of 6 elementary schools and 2 junior high schools.

For the elementary school level, scholarships are awarded to 5 students per class from grade 2-6 with the total number of students per school receiving scholarship is 25 students. As for the junior high school level, scholarships are awarded to 5 students per class from grade 8-9 so that the total number of students receiving scholarships for each junior high school is 10 students. All students who elect to obtain a scholarship is the result of selection, evaluation and decision of each school together with school committees.

The main objective of this program is to improve and expand community opportunities for continuing education and school to higher education in order to prepare human resources for the development of regional economy, especially in the Kedung Jaya village or Bekasi district in general.
