Clear Water Assistance

The business sector is getting more realized that company is not faced on the responsibility based on the corporate value that merely is reflected not only in its financial condition but also it shall consider its environmental and social aspect.

PT Odira Energy Persada (PT Odira) as the partner from the Bekasi District owned Enterprise in the development and management of “BBWM-Odira” LPG refinery located in the Village of Kedung Jaya, sub district of Babelan and started to produce in the mid of November 2006, realizing the social responsibility that provide optimal contribution particularly for the community surrounding the refinery and generally for community of Bekasi district.

The Kedung Jaya village is located in the area of Babelan sub district, Bekasi district, most of the people livelihood is in the sector of agriculture as the farmland owner, worker or peasant whereas the others’ income is as trader, carpentry, transportation service and others.  Most of the community derive from the rural community and mostly are of middle class to the lower class community, their economics living condition is quite low, and it is difficult for them to pay for the clean water supply and the PDAM water distribution has not reached their area, and they still can obtain water through the refill water galloon or from the door-to-door water vendor.

Most of the people who are small farmers have to consume salty or briny water for their daily need in cooking and drinking since they do not have other choice. Why? It is because the underground well as their water source in this area is less hygienic to meet their needs of drinking water that is part for the basic need to be fulfilled.

Based on such condition, and due to the demand of the local community members, PT Odira participate in realizing its social responsibility toward the local community through hand-in-hand providing assistance in the form of development and clean water supply to meet the drinking water needs of the community in the surrounding area of the company operation site.

PT Odira in July 2007 has constructed 2 clean water supply that respectively has the capacity of 3000 liter and commencing in July 2007 clean water is being distributed to the water tank twice a week prioritizing for the people living in Dusun III village of Kedung Jaya that is nearest village to the “BBWM-Odira” LPG refinery.
